| Piano Faculty: Gary Pearson Gary Pearson studied piano with Harold H. Harris and Marilyn Carboni prior to receiving his bachelor's degree at Samford University with Dr. Betty Sue Shepherd. While earning a master's degree studying with Dr. Maurice Hinson at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Mr. Pearson joined the Louisville Academy of Music faculty, and his tenure at the school spans 44 years. His piano students are winners in the Overstreet, MacDowell, and Louisville Youth Orchestra Concerto Competitions as well as Indiana State School Music Association Piano Contests, performers of solo, ensemble, and group recitals, and recipients of music scholarships to Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Manhattan School of music in New York. To acknowledge his distinguished career, a banquet was held at Lampton Baptist Church where he has been on the music staff 27 years. Louisville's mayor proclaimed "Gary Pearson Day", and Mr. Pearson was named a "Kentucky Colonel". He maintains an active studio that encompasses students of all ages. |
